The Saga of Cecily G.
by Joel H. Cohen

When I received a phone call from a gentleman in Massachusetts, I had no idea was a big job would be heading my way! He wanted the Worcester Public Library’s mascot, Cecily the giraffe, to be repaired for the patrons. It was an exciting to work on such a large piece, where even something as simple as a missing eye proved to be a challenge. There was damage to the inner metal framework, in addition to the mohair fabric on the outside. My husband’s machinist skills were key in getting the framework repaired, and I did a lot of sewing and cleaning on a ladder to get the outside repairs completed.
